Weekend Gossip; What Do You Want With Another Persons Phone
9 October 2020 Blog
There are natural long noses in this life. Give them an ATM card, tell them “go and make me a N10,000 withdrawal,” they will not stop at making the withdrawal, they will also check your account balance. They will use their phones to take a picture of the ATM screen showing the balance and wait for when to strike
I went out to lunch with a friend the other day, just stepped into to rest room and returned just in time to find her snooping through my phone, that redefined our friendship instantly. Though I said nothing ,just one look and she started to explain her self. According to her she was trying to call someone who was owing her but was declining her calls .I did not buy it though, Why did it have to be when I left for the rest room I mean she could have asked my permission first for courtesy sake
Hmmm, busy bodies ,be it your friend, flat mate or even spouse .At night, they will wait for you to fall asleep so that they can use your thumbprint to unlock your phone. They will cram your messages, passwords, codes, salary alerts and what-have-you.
You thought they are not brilliant because they didn’t get good grades in school? Wait till you hear them reciting the messages in your phone with accuracy.
I’ve always been of the opinion that technology is both a solution and a problem.
Mobile telephones became a thing in Nigeria in the early 2000s. From being a luxury item for only the rich, nearly everyone, no matter how poor, now has a mobile phone. This is a good development.
You would think that the majority of those with access to mobile phones and the internet would take advantage of the technology to develop themselves but no, they spend all their time on social media platforms, doing God knows what.
You meet some young persons and what you hear them discussing makes you cringe.
“Why did she tag you? Why did she like your photo? See the way you were looking at him? You people are sporting on the web abi….okay!”
I dare say that nearly everyone in this country knows at least one person who has lost a relationship because of the internet.
I’ve also been caught. Twice if I’m being honest, and twice lucky as well. and before you ask how i got lucky twice ,may I suggest you take your own advice and mind your business,. I don catch you today, Amebo, Biko let me laugh in pidgin
On a more serious note, what do you want with another person’s mobile phone? It’s a very important question. People have died because of this. People have killed their significant others because they snooped through their phone and saw things that enraged them. Children have been orphaned for this same reason. Some have managed to escape the hangman’s noose but society remembers them as that man or woman who killed their spouse all because of the contents of their phone.
I ask again, what do you want with another’s cellphone?
Nine out of ten times, it’s not for any good. Nothing profitable. Nothing to make us happy. I know a lady who routinely steals her man’s phone to check for incriminating evidence. If she finds nothing, she is disappointed .Still She will find a way to convince herself that he has deleted ‘them’.
Truth is, she’s lucky she hasn’t found what she’s been looking for and for goodness sake, who goes out to look for hurtful information? Who?
Sadly many people do, we have even seen the evidence of the sad outcomes of this bad habit and hence, this piece!
Looking into another person’s phone may set you on a course that’ll resonate throughout your generation for lifetimes to come. Don’t go out of your way to look for things that hurt you. It isn’t worth your peace of mind and sanity.
To my brothers, father, sisters, mothers, friends, colleagues, to you all who can “kill” for a phone, to all you youngsters who struggle to buy phones you cannot afford because they are, to you, a status symbol, to those who steal phones and are sometimes lynched to death when caught, to the one who prefers an old iPhone to a new phone, why do you desperately want to have a phone? Is it to send and receive nudes so wives and husbands can kill each other?
Answer me this; why do you want a phone and having got one, what do you want in another person’s phone?
Na wetin you dey find?
This is what is known as “trouble dey sleep yanga go wake am”
For your own sakes, Be careful and mind your business
