University Don Suggests Action To Tackle Fake News

 The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Bida, Doctor Abubakar Dzukogi has stressed   the  for conventional media to be more innovative so as check the falsehood being disseminated on various social media platforms.

He stated this  while speaking with Radio Nigeria in Bida.

Doctor Dzukogi who expressed concern over the continuous spread of fake news, said urgent steps must be taken to check the ugly trend.‎

On science and technical education, the Rector advocated more funding to polytechnics and other technical institutions to boost the production of quality manpower that would drive the growth of the economy. 

Doctor Dzukogi who is a Mass Communication Scholar, was recently honoured by the Nigeria Institute of Physics for his contributions to the development of technical education in the country. ‎

According to Wikipedia, some observers believe that the challenges faced by conventional media, especially newspapers, has to do with the perfect storm of the global economic crisis, dwindling readership and advertising dollars, and the inability of newspapers to monetize their online efforts.
