The Chairman of Borno Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Baba Sheik Haruna said UNHCR, the Dangote Foundation and Federal Ministry of Defence were selected for the Platinum category while the Borno UNHCR is the only UN agency that is trying to find durable solutions by building permanent shelters for our people.

Radio and Television (BRTV), Daily Post online newspaper and the Vanguard Newspaper were chosen for the Gold category.

He said the selection process followed a thorough assessment by the membership of NUJ and considered their extraordinary contributions by the recipients.

“UNHCR was the only International organization in Borno that continues to make tangible contributions in the reconstruction and the rehabilitation process of the state, in addition to providing protection and life-saving support to IDPs and refugee returnees in North-Eastern Nigeria”, said Baba Haruna.

According to the NUJ, UNHCR is supporting efforts of the government for the return to normalcy in Borno.
