The United Nations Population Fund, UNFPA has donated Personal Protective Equipment and Lifesaving commodities to nine states and the FCT to fast -track the fight against COVID-19.
The Representative of UNFPA Mr. Babatunde Adelekan at the handing over of the commodities in Abuja, to Abuja Municipal and Bwari Area Councils of the FCT said this was part of the COVID-19 projects of the organization.
Mr. Babatunde said UNFPA would not relent in it’s effort to fight against COVID-19 and other vices bedeviling the society.
“This project is being implemented in nine states, including Borno, Gombe, Kaduna, Ogun, Kano, Sokoto and FCT, simultaneously and also cut across 320 facilities and in 30 local governments areas of the country.”
Also the Director Finance and operations, Plan Parenthood Federation of Nigeria, Mr. Nnadi Agha explained that the Lifesaving commodities was aimed at increasing access to to Reproductive Health and Gender based violence response services in the states.
Receiving the items on behalf of Bwari and Abuja Municipal area Councils, Mr. Fatigun Olusegun and Mustafa Abdulkareem appreciated the organization for their support through training and donations.
They pledged to utilise the commodities effectively
The donation was second in the series and the two area Councils were selected based on the reports of it’s being the highest with COVID-19 burden.
