Six people including a woman and a little child have been killed and five others seriously injured following yet another midnight attack on Taebge Village in Miango district of Bassa LGA in Plateau state.
An eye witness and member of one of the three houses attacked and burnt, Mr Sunday Yari said he was woken by the sound of gunshots and hid in a nearby bush as he watched the herdsmen kill five of his family members but couldn’t do anything.
As at time of this report, the community was in disarray, as women and children were moving out with loads to seek refuge elsewhere.
The Plateau state Police Commissioner, Undie Adie who was at the scene with some officers said the police will do all it could to unravel the mystery and reasons for the continuous attacks.
The latest attack comes amidst many others in different villages in Irigwe land, where lives and property were lost.
It also comes amidst heavy presence of security personnel in the area and a curfew earlier imposed on the entire Irigwe land by the plateau state government.
The five injured persons are presently in hospital.
As the Paramount ruler of the area, Reverend Ronku Aka said the invading herdsmen were left to freely operate, while his people are caged by the curfew.
