Traders Count Losses As Fire Guts Market In Lagos
About seven buildings were on Wednesday destroyed in a fire outbreak that affected a section of Balogun market, located on Lagos Island.
The fire outbreak started from Anambra Plaza on Martins street in the market and has spread to about six other structures.
According to report the fire started when a trader was putting fuel inside his generator which was on at Anambra plaza. While he was still pouring the fuel into the fuel tank, the generator went up in flames.
Traders were however in panic as they tried to salvage their goods through the windows of the high-rise buildings.
Radio Nigeria reports that Firefighters are currently battling it at the time of this report
In 2015 January 14, 10 buildings, 100 shops and makeshift structures within the axis,were affected by fire, it too the combined emergency team to put out the blazing fire.
The property affected then were OK Plaza on 44, Balogun Street; Rich Plaza, also on the same Balogun Street; Global Plaza, on 42, Balogun Street, Onikoyi and the building on 38, Balogun Street
