Awoniyi was part of the Fifa Under-17 World Cup-winning squad of 2013 alongside the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho and Success Isaac of Watford.

He scored four goals in that tournament as Nigeria swept away all the teams to clinch the title in the United Arab Emirates.

A couple of Turkish clubs were on his trail but he eventually opted to try his luck in the Belgian league with Mouscron.

Taiwo Awoniyi Micheal (born 12 August 1997) is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Premier Leagueclub Liverpool. Taiwo’s style of play has been compared to that of Rashidi Yekini, Nigeria’s all-time highest goalscorer
