Stakeholders In Key Reproductive Health and Family Planning Call For Implementation Of New National Health Act

Stakeholders in key Reproductive Health and Family Planning in Nigeria have called for the full implementation of the new National Health Act,especially in the area of basic Health care by the incoming government.
The National Coordinator, Civil Society For Family Planning in Nigeria, Mr Wale Adeleye at a media briefing in Abuja said this would enhance Nigeria’s quest towards achieving quality Primary HealthCare services accessible to all citizens.
Mr. Adeleye said there was need for government at all levels to partner with the private sector in promoting ,strengthening and expanding access to quality Reproductive Health and family planning services and commodities.
“This will contributes towards achieving the National Strategic Development goals of increased Contraceptive Prevalence Rate(CPR)and reducing the unacceptable unmet needs and maternal deaths in Nigeria”He noted
“Laudable initiatives such as Midwives Service Scheme(MSS)and Conditional Cash Transfer should be sustained by the federal government in collaboration with state governments and more support should be provided to scale up these initiatives .He said
The National coordinator, said that with the population of 170 Million, Nigeria was currently experiencing remarkable demographic changes.
Mr wale Adeleye added that reproductive Health and family planning services and commodities must be available and accessible to adolescent, youths and women of reproductive age
