Speakers at a National Conference on conflict resolution for sustainable democracy holding in Bida, Niger State, have called for proper management of crisis in the country.
The participants who were drawn from the academia, were unanimous in their call for a more united nation.
Speaking on the role of effective conflict management, the Head, Department of Languages, Federal Polytechnic Bida, Doctor Sunday Ogala said quick resolution of crisis is the only pathway to sustainable peace. .
Doctor Ogala recommend equal distribution of resources among all groups in the country.
The coordinator, Centre for gender affairs, IBB University Lapai, Niger State, Doctor Juliana Dauda proposed a democratic system that would ensure free and equal opportunity for all Nigerians to participate in decision making process.
Doctor Dauda pointed out that conflicts have resulted into socio economic, political and psychological effects on the society.
A Public Affairs Analyst, Doctor Sharu Muhammad and a Peace Ambassador, Mr Thomas Jiya advocated the use of dialogue instead of violence to resolve conflicts
They enjoined Nigerians to always imbibe the spirit of tolerance.
The participants also want security agencies to check the proliferation of arms in the country.
