Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal has expressed government’s commitment to partner with development partners in expanding access to routine immunisation.
The partnership according to Governor Tambuwal is aimed at ensuring rapid reduction in cases of child and maternal mortality in the state.
Tambuwal made the pledge in Kaduna while signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Aliko Dangote Foundation.
According to him an amendment to the State Primary Health care law has been effected bringing together all agencies in the sector under one roof.
According to the governor cases of rejection of vaccines have fallen drastically over previous years, while religious and traditional rulers have been involved in sensitisation to enhance effectiveness.
Tambuwal reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to achieving success in immunisation, saying so far, the government has paid about N150 million as counterpart funding for various interventions in the health sector.
