Shun Nepotism, Ensure Transparency/Even Distribution Of Resources – Cardinal Onaiyekan Tells Political Leaders

Political office holders have been urged to place National interest above personal ambition and fulfil their campaign promises.

The Catholic Archbishop of Abuja Emeritus, John Cardinal Onaiyekan who gave the advice during a special program organised by the Dominion Chapel International Church Abuja said Most Nigerian Politicians have failed in their responsibilities to the people.

While expressing concern over the high level of poverty, insecurty and Social vices in the country John Cardinal Onaiyekan appealed to them to make the welfare of citizens their priority and protect the sovereignty of the country.

He also urged them to shun nepotism, ensure transparency and even distribution of resources as well as embrace federal character in all appointments for justice, fairness and peace to reign in the country.

John Cardinal Onaiyekan however appealed to religious leaders to lead by example and avoid utherances that could over heat the polity.

He also stressed the need for Christians to be the light in all spheres and continue to pray for peace and unity in the country.

In a remark, The General Overseer, Dominion Chapel International Church Archbishop John Praise -Daniel who commended the role of Church leaders in promoting Peaceful coexistence urged the federal government to check the spate of insecurity threatening the sovereignty of the country.

According to him, kidnappings, banditry and other security issues potent danger for the future of the country.

Archbishop Praise-Daniel who is also the National Deputy President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria reiterated the readiness of the Church in the fight against Corruption and other vices in the country.

Also speaking, the General Overseer of the Omega Fire Ministry Apostle Johnson Suleiman emphasized the need for the Church to stand up and be a voice for the voiceless.

Apostle Suleiman believed that with Unity and continuous prayers and support of the Church the country would overcome its challenges.

Top Government officials, Members of the Diplomatic Corps, Members of the National Assembly and Religious Leaders attended the event with the theme: Quest for Credible Leadership In Nigeria.
