Shop Owners in Bida Old Market Cry Out
Traders of the burnt Bida Old market in Niger state have called for urgent intervention from government to ease their pains.
They made the call after the entire market was razed down by fire.
The fire outbreak has destroyed goods and property worth millions of naira at the popular Old Market in Bida, Niger State.
The inferno which started around eight o’clock last night lasted till the early hours of this morning.
Efforts by fire fighting personnel to put off the fire was delayed due to the poor planning of the market which made it difficult to be accessed.
As at the time of this report, the cause of the inferno which razed down virtually all the stalls in the market, was not known.
Some traders who spoke with Radio Nigeria said they have lost their entire investments to the inferno.

The Niger State Deputy Governor Alhaji Mohammed Ahmed Ketso who visited the scene, noted that an inventory would be taken to enable the state government compensate the victims.
Alhaji Ketso pointed out that fire service stations would be situated in markets across the state.
The Etsu Nupe and Chairman Niger state Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar who expressed shock at the damage done, urged the people to take it in good faith.
The Senator representing Niger South, Mustapha Sani pointed out collective efforts are needed to assist the victims.
Other sympathizers described the disaster is a huge blow on the economy of the area.
The cause of the fire that lasted through the night has not been known.
