Senate To Fast Track Nigeria Law Reform Bill
Senate says National Assembly Will fast track passage of the Nigeria Law Reform Bill to repeal obsolete Acts in the country.
The chairman, Senate committee on Judiciary, human rights and Legal matters, senator, Opeyemi Bamidele, stated this in Abuja, during the screening of the chairman and commissioners of the Nigeria Law Reform Commission.
He explained that the bill to reform the commission was already passed at the green chamber and waiting concurrence at the Senate.
Members of the committee jointly expressed worry that prevalence of obsolete Acts have mitigated against effective dispensation of Justice in the country.
Earlier, the chairman nominee for the commission, Processor, Jummai Audi, lamented at the delay in passage of the bill to reform the commission.
She gave the assurance that the bill when passed would address the issue of paucity of funds to the commission.
Professor Audi further assured that the commission would not relent on its responsibilities in the interest of the nation.
