President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan has been honoured with the award of Parliamentary Leadership For Good Governance and Budget Cycle Restoration by the Senate Press Corps.
On the occasion in Abuja, the Senator Lawan dedicated the award to his colleagues who had made January to December budgetary implementation cycle possible.
According to him, the 2020 budget recorded 100 percent implementation.
The President of the Senate who commended the support and cooperation of the Senate Press Corps promised to institute a training and award for members of the Corps beginning from next year.
In a remark, the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri who was also honoured with Ambassador of the Senate Award said the gesture would further encourage him to deliver on his mandate to his people.
Governor Diri who described media professionals as critical stakeholders in good governance and national debt advised them to uphold professionalism at all times.
Earlier, the Chairman of Senate Press Corps, Comrade James Itodo of Radio Nigeria, Abuja Operations, said the corps would continue to recognize selfless legislative efforts and democratic contributions aimed at ensuring a better Nigeria
Comrade James Itodo expressed that the corps would continue to embark on programnes that would make lawmakers accountable to Nigerians towards strengthening the nation’s democratic system.
Other awardees included Senators Barau Jibrin, Ajibola Basiru, Micheal Bamidele, Matthew Urhoghide, Aishatu Ahmed, Solomon Adeola.
Others are Minister of State for Health, Senator Olorunibe Mamora, Governors of Bauchi and Kogi among others.
