9 October 2019 National News
The senate has confirmed Mr Adeleke Adewolu as Executive Commissioner of the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC.
The confirmation followed a report of Senate Committee chairman on Nigerian Communications Commission, Senator Oluremi Tinubu during plenary in Abuja.
She explained that the nominee who’s name was transmitted to the Upper Chamber by President Muhammadu Buhari was scrutinised and found worthy to serve as Executive Commissioner of the NCC.
According to Tinibu, the nominee would replace the former NCC Commissioner , Sunday Dare, the current minister of youths and sports development.
However, the senator representing Anambra central, Senator Uche Ekwunife observed that there was no representation of the South East on the commission, alleging the absence of the Federal Character principle.
In a remark , the president of the senate Ahmed Lawan , while congratulating the nominee directed an investigation into the alleged absence of Federal character on the commission
