Nigerians have been urged to always live in peace with one another irrespective of socio-cultural affiliations.
The Sa’payi of Garki Alhaji Usman Nga-Kupi made the call when he received a delegation from a non-governmental organisation, Global Peace Foundation Nigeria in palace in Abuja as part of activities marking the International Peace Day.
Alhaji Nga-Kupi who explained that without peace no nation can prosper said it is the responsibility of every Nigerian to promote peace in their daily endeavours, maintained that Nigerians were all created to be united.
, “All religious and ethnic groups in this country have lived together for a longer time, we must not allow anyone to deceive us,” he said.
The Northern Coordinator of the Global Peace Foundation Nigerian,
Sheik Abdullahi Maraya decried that conflicts, banditry and terrorism had disrupted farming activities across the country thereby causing hike in the prices of foodstuffs.
The Country Director of the Organisation, Reverend Joseph Hayab who pointed out that the Day centres on love and tolerance said they were collaborating traditional rulers in promoting peace in the country.
The theme of this year’s International Day of Peace is, “Shaping Peace Together”.
