Reps Want E-Learning System Introduced
The House of Representatives has called for the introduction of online education and learning system into Nigeria’s educational system.
This followed the adoption of the resolution of a motion sponsored by Anieken Umanah from Akwa Ibom State.
In his lead debate the lawmaker who noted that the outbreak of the Coronavirus had altered the educational calendar globally stressed the urgent need to adopt the online learning system to bridge the vacuum created by the closure of schools.
Ummana added that the announcement by the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Education to open a free e-learning portal intended to create access to online education across the nation has failed as it lacked instructional design and implementation.
The lawmakers there after urged the Federal Ministry of education to urgently develop a National Policy and framework for online education for schools at various levels.
