The House of Representatives Committee on Governmental Affairs has queried the Director General of the Nigeria Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Jonathan Jumah over plans to spend the sum of N72m on two cars in 2019.
The Chairman of the committee Hussaini Kangiwa from Kebbi State who presided over the 2019 budget defense noted that the legislature would continue to ensure accountability of all public funds.
The lawmakers who frowned at agencies expending their internally generated revenue without recourse to the constitution urged them to adhere strictly to the provisons of the constitution.
The committee also demanded that the DG NIPSS and the executive Secretary of the Administrative Staff of College furnish the committee with proofs of payment for all items listed as procured in their 2018 budget performance reports.
Also engaged for budget defence was the National Lottery Regulatory Commission led by Lanre Gbajabiamila who was asked to reappear another day for failing to provide the needed information.
