Razak Atunwa Emerges PDP Governorship Candidate In Kwara State

A member representing Asa, Ilorin West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Razak Atunwa has emerged flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Kwara State in the twenty-nineteen governorship election. 

Atunwa who was a former Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly polled one thousand five hundred and fifty-five votes to defeat his rival, a former governor of the state and serving senator, Alhaji Mohammed Sha’aba Lafiagi who polled five hundred and seventy-eight votes.

The exercise which started on Sunday, was declared inconclusive due to disruption of the process halfway.

Correspondent Lawrence Afolabi reports that two thousand two hundred and forty-two delegates from the one hundred and ninety -three wards in the state were accredited to participate in the primaries, that witnessed withdrawal of eight out o the eleven  aspirants that signified interest in the contest.
