96-year-old Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth’s husband has been hospitalized due to a nasty infection.
Buckingham Palace announced that Queen Elizabeth’s Husband, 96-year-old Prince Philip, is ill yet in “good spirits” and “disappointed to be missing the State Opening of Parliament and Royal Ascot”, reports Radar.
Two days ago, the prince was seen at the Royal Ascot races, with his longtime wife.
A palace spokesman, in statement released to PEOPLE, said, “The Duke of Edinburgh was admitted to King Edward VII Hospital in London last night, as a precautionary measure, for treatment of an infection arising from a pre-existing condition.”
The prince has suffered several illness in recent years, but he has always bounced back. In December, the pair canceled public appearances after they both came down with severe colds. This should be expected as they advanced in age.
Just last month, Buckingham Palace announced that Prince Philip would retire from his royal duties later this year after serving over 70 years in public service.
We wish the prince a quick and full recovery.
