The People’s Redemption Party wants the government to focus more on programmes and policies that will revive the nation’s economy to reduce the debt burden.
The Chairman, People Redemption Party, Mallam Falalu Bello who gave the advice in interaction with newsmen in Abuja, advocated diversification of the Nation’s economy to reduce over-dependence on crude oil.
“The despair surrounding the rising debts due largely to the near absence of the expenditures made with these debts in the eyes of the public, the President of the Republic, has recently written to the National Assembly (Representatives of the Nigerian Public charged with the responsibility on behalf of authorizing such borrowings on the population) seeking approval to borrow additional billions of dollars which will translate to trillions of naira as additional External Loans. development of the economy with almost certainty of social malaise”.
Speaking on the cost of governance, the PRP Chairman also advocated for unicameral legislation to meet the present-day economy reality.
“Reduction in the costs of the Legislature to the National economy achievable by making the Legislature Unicameral as opposed to existing Bicameral arrangement by doing away with the Senate and making the Assembly part-time as opposed to the current full-time arrangement;” Bello emphasised.
Mallam Bello also advised the government to gainfully engage the youth to maximize their potentials called on the security agencies to deploy modern technology to strengthen the nation’s security architecture.
