PRESIDENT JONATHAN TO LEAVE THE COUNTRY AFTER MAY 29

jonathanPresident Goodluck Jonathan has informed the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that he would return stronger to help rebuild the party after taking a short break outside the country with his family.

Jonathan leaves office on May 29 after the swearing in of president-elect Muhammadu Buhari. He had lost the March 28 presidential election to the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s candidate.

While his loss has deepened animosity within the ranks of the party, Jonathan intends to mend all the cracks and make the PDP a force to be reckoned with again.

He therefore urged the leadership, stakeholders, elders and members of the PDP to put behind them the defeat the party suffered after 16 years in power and build the party for future elections.

He however, thanked them for their support and noted that soon after the May 29 handover of government, he would travel outside the country with his family to rest, recuperate and then come back to politics later, but not immediately.

He warned the leadership of the party against apportioning blames, urging them to ensure that the PDP does not disintegrate because of the March and April elections.
