FCT Flags Off 2018 Immunization Campaign
The Federal Capital Territory Administration says eradicating polio completely from the country is achievable with everyone’s commitment.
The Permanent Secretary FCTA, Mr Christian Ohaa stated this during the first 2018 polio flag off in Jiwa Community, Abuja.
The Permanent Secretary who was represented by Mr Udom Samuel Atang, tasked all stakeholders to ensure that the programme achieved its goal of vaccinating all children under five years.
The Secretary, Health and Human Services Secretariat, Mrs Amanda Pam represented by Dr Abdullahi encouraged parents and care givers to compliment government efforts aimed at securing the future of the Nigerian Child from preventable diseases.
On his part, the Executive Secretary, FCT Primary Health Care Board, Dr Matthew Ashikeni who described immunization as a cost effective way of preventing life threatening infections, said the board had re-strategised and trained over 1166 vaccinators to ensure that all the FCT Children were immunized.
Various Partners and stakeholders such as , Christian and Moslem associations, Afrinet, World Health Organisation, Rotary club and FCT National Orientation Agency, unanimously expressed optimism that the fight against polio in Nigeria could be won.
