Plateau: Supplementary Polls To be Conducted In 106 units – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC says supplementary polls will be conducted in one hundred and six polling units in four Local Government Areas of Plateau.
This followed the outcome of Plateau South Senatorial District and Jos North/Bassa Federal constituency in Plateau where elections were declared inconclusive.
In a statement, Head, Voter Education and Publicity of the Commission in the state Mr Osaretin Imahiyereobo said the supplementary polls will be conducted alongside the governorship and House of Assembly elections slated for March ninth
Imahiyereobo explained that the election will hold in six polling units in Shendam, eight in Wase, twenty seven in Qua’anpan, and sixty five in Jos North Local Government Areas.
The official assured that the commission would ensure timely deployment of INEC personnel and materials to ensure early commencement of the exercise.
He noted that the commission had taken steps towards ensuring the use of smart card readers during the polls, adding that non-compliance in any polling units would lead to the cancelation of results from such units.
Still from Plateau State, the Gubernatorial candidate of the Action Democratic Party Retired Brigadier General Jon Temlong , says contrary to speculations from some quarters, he has not stepped down for anyone.
In a statement by his Director, Media and Publicity Gyang Botcha, General Temlong said at no time was such decision taken and called on his supporters to disregard the statement, describing it as fake news.
He noted the resolve of the party to contest the elections and expressed commitment of his party to win the elections considering his door-to-door campaign.
