Plateau State Government Cautions Against Hatred And Divisive Politics
The Plateau state government says the pronouncement of the state office of the Independent National Election Commission on the delayed results for Plateau North Senatorial District and the Jos North/ Bassa Federal Constituency has vindicated the governor Simon Lalong.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and communication Yakubu Dati says Governor Lalong will never interfere in electoral process urged the people to understand the role of institutions in governance and place their grievances before appropriate institutions.
The statement explained that Governor Lalong is an architect of a peaceful Plateau and will not turn round to threaten his good deeds by interfering in a process he is participating in.
It says politics is a game of numbers and will work with who ever INEC declares winner irrespective of religious, ethnic or political difference in advancing the interest of the state.
According to the statement the governor will have loved his party to win, but as governor of all ,he respects the wish of the electorate which he describes as the beauty of democracy.
The statement also explained that Governor Lalong provided the enabling environment for peaceful and credible elections in the state urged the opposition and peddlers of fake news to focus on what unites the state rather than stoking the embers of hatred and divisive politics.
It therefore appeal to Plateau people to work towards maintaining the peace and successful polls in the nearest future.
