Pharmacist Council Seals Over Four Hundred And Ninety Premises In Plateau State
The Pharmacist Council of Nigeria has sealed over four hundred and ninety premises in plateau state for various offences.
The Director, Inspection and monitoring of the Council, Mrs Anthonia Aruwa stated this while briefing journalist in jos after the Council carried out an enforcement exercise.
According to Mrs Aruwa, seven hundred and eleven premises were visited, which include one hundred and eighty -four pharmacist and five hundred and twenty-seven patent and proprietary medicine vendors.
She said their offences range from Improper handling of controlled substances, unhygienic environment and poor documentation as well as dispensing ethic prescription drugs without the presence of a pharmacist.
The Director, Inspection and monitoring of the Council noted that this is the phase of streamlining the distribution system in Plateau state.
Mrs Aruwa stressed that further actions will follow in due course as the council is committed to the full compliance to the national drug distribution policy of the federal government.
She said the implications of this actions can best be imagined, as it exposes the general public to great danger.
The drug distribution inspection committee, an enforcement arm of the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria has been carrying out enforcement activities across the Nation in fulfilment of its mandate of ensuring that minimum standards of practice are maintained by all players in the Pharmaceutical sector.
This is by providing the necessary Technical support that will guarantee the provision of optimum Pharmaceutical services, sensitise stakeholders and enforce the guidelines put in place.
