The Chairman of Nigeria’s ruling Peoples Democratic Party Adamu Muazu has resigned, according to a spokesperson.
Deputy National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus replaces Muazu at the helm of the party.
“It is true, Mu’azu has resigned. I can confirm this to you, he resigned today,” Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Abdullahi Jalo told Punch newspapers.
Muazu’s resignation follows the defeat of the PDP at Nigeria’s 2015 presidential election. Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress beat incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan.
Muazu had been under pressure to step aside since the poll.
