NSCDC Rescues Abandoned Newborn Baby In Abuja

The FCT command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps,NSCDC has rescued a newborn baby wrapped and thrown away by her mother after birth.

The Commandant Mr Patrick Upkan made this known while briefing newsmen in Abuja on the efforts of his men on the rescue operation.

Mr Ukpan said his men went into action after a report of an abandoned baby in a bush around Lokogoma Area of Abuja.

He explained that the baby who is presently at the national hospital for medical attention while the mother will remain under the custody of the NSCDC for further interrogation.

The Public Relations Officer FCT Social Development Secretariat Mr Shaka Sunday said the baby after medical attention would be handed over to the Secretariat for care.

The mother Miss Joy Ejeh revealed that she was impregnated by a young man who is presently at Large.
