The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Niger State Command, has apprehended four suspected buyers of mattresses meant for the victims of flood disaster in the state.
The suspects are Suleiman Yusuf, 40; Saminu Yusuf, 38; Abdullahi Sarki, 59 and Sani Shehu, 48. They were trailed and arrested in different locations in Minna by the NSCDC men based on intelligence report.
It was learnt that Yusuf bought the mattresses from a government official before he sold them to three other suspects in Minna metropolis.
According to reports, the government official now at large sold the 400 mattresses worth N2.4m to Suleiman before he disappeared to evade arrest.
It further gathered that the suspects had been selling the mattresses at the rate of N4,500 to unsuspecting buyers. The state Commandant, Haruna Zurmi, confirmed the incident, saying the suspects confessed to the crime.
