[email protected]: Kogi State To Route Out Bandits, Kidnappers And Other Criminal Elements

Amid the ravaging effects of flooding in parts of Kogi State, persons affected by the disaster have been advised to continue to take precautions to safeguard their lives.

Kogi state Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello gave the advise in a statewide broadcast to commemorate Nigeria’s sixtieth independence anniversary.

The Governor noted that government was making arrangements to provide succour to victims across the 9 LGAs affected by the flooding and reiterated that food and other reliefs would be provided at the temporary camps sheltering those displaced.

“As usual, the government is prepared to give succour to affected citizens and residents. We have set up camps for displaced people where food, medicine and other essentials would be provided. ” He said.

Alhaji Bello emphasised that security remained a priority as government partners security agencies to route out bandits, kidnappers and other criminal elements operating in the state.

“Security has remained permanent priority for us. We have arrested dozens of bandits, armed robbers, kidnappers and other violent criminals and put them behind bars”

He stressed that workers’ remuneration would be improved upon as the civil service reforms was yielding results.

According to him, government’s economic diversification through agriculture was being explored for young people to venture into agro businesses for self reliance.

“Various programmes have been developed to get willing and able Kogites to take up farming or any other branch of agriculture they may be interested in.” The Governor posited.

On the Post covid recovery, Bello said government was rolling out initiatives such as the Bello Covid 19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus, Bello CARES to assist citizens across the state coupled with the Kogi Enterprise Empowerment Programme, Bello KEEP to particularly support MSMEs.

The Governor felicitated with Kogi citizens on the country’s diamond jubilee and praised the resilience of the people promising that his administration would deliver on infrastructure and good governance.
