Nigeria: Maritime Agencies To Harmonise All Maritime Operations
Maritime agencies in the country have once again expressed determination to put to effective use the nations water ways.
This was part of the resolutions of the heads of the nations maritime agencies at its third monthly meeting held in Lokoja, Kogi state Capital.
Briefing newsmen after the meeting, Managing Director of NIWA, Doctor George Moghalu, said the chief executives of the agencies discussed issues relating to maritime security and safety, capacity building and training and how to evolve policies to better the maritime industry.
He explained that the body was also looking for better ways to harmonise all maritime operations for the benefit of Nigerians.
Doctor Moghalu blamed incessant boat mishaps in the country on the non compliance of boat riders to standards laid down by NIWA.
The NIWA, MD, maintained that the maritime agencies would continue to enforce all protocols established by the maritime agencies so that the nations can maximise the benefit of the maritime industry and reduce pressure on the nations roads.
