Niger State Govt Donates N20million To Victims Of Bida Burnt Market

The Niger State Government has donated twenty million naira to victims of last week’s Bida Old Market fire incident

The Governor of Niger state,  Abubakar Sani-Bello, addressing people at the Etsu Nupe Palace.

 

Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello donated the cash when he visited the Etsu Nupe Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar in his Palace. 

Governor Sani-Bello who described the incident as a huge blow, said the donation was to serve as immediate intervention for the victims. 

He explained that the State Emergency Management Agency and a Special Committee have been mandated to take inventory of all that was lost to enable the government do more for the victims. 

The Governor pointed out that while the traders would be temporarily relocated, the burnt market would be rebuilt with access roads and fire service stations.

The Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar called for Public Private Partnership in the re-construction and re-allocation of the shops in the market.

Speaking on behalf of the Emirate, the Majin Gari Nupe and a former Chief Judge of Niger State, Justice Jibril Ndajiwo said the funds would be used judiciously. 

The Governor later visited the scene of the site of the burnt market In company of some National Assembly members from the state.
