Niger Government Commissions 38 New Buses For State Transport Firm

Over one billion naira has been expended by the Niger state government to improve it’s public transport.

To this end, sixty four new buses have been purchased for the Niger State Transport Authority, NSTA.

Inaugurating thirty eight out of the vehicles in Minna, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello said the move is to provide affordable transportation services for the people.

The Governor explained that the government was worried about the decay in public transportation system and was committed to revamping it.

He noted that the vehicles were purchased through a bank loan and harps on the need for the management of the Niger State Transport Authourity to ensure effective management to repay the loan.

Governor Bello expressed optimism that the gesture would go a long way to ease the problems faced by the people and noted that efforts to expand other means of transportation in the state would be explored.

The state commissioner for Transport, Hajiya Ramatu Ya’adua pointed out that the Ministry has commenced the training of drivers to reduce the risk of accidents.

She added that electronic form of transaction would be put in place for more people to access the services of the transport authority.
