NHIS Boss Suspended Indefinitely For Alleged Corruption
The Executive Secretary, National Health insurance scheme, NHIS Professor Yusuf Usman has been suspended indefinitely due to alleged abuse of office.
Announcing the suspension at a media briefing in Abuja,the Chairman of the NHIS council,Dr Ifenne Enyantu said the General Manager, Legal Department, Mallam Abubakar Sadiq would take over in acting capacity .
“This adminsistrative pannel has three months to carry out its assignment and report back to council. I want you to know that we consulted and got the approval of the minister of health” She said.
Dr Enyantu also said the council also resolved to constitute an administrative panel to carry out a thorough investigation into the various allegations level out against the NHIS executive Secretary.
The allegations include Removal of N264million paddling discovered in the NHIS budget proposal .
Reduction of the 2018 training. budget from over N1billion to a realistic N250million Naira to avoid the training stampede in 2017 and unauthorised Expenditure above Limits and other corruption allegations.
Prof Yusuf was suspended by the Minister of Health in July, 2017 but was called back by the presidency in February, 2018.
