NGO Gives Grant To About 100 People in Bida

About one hundred indigent people in Bida, Niger State have received grants from a Non-Governmental Organization to boost their businesses.

 The Country Director of the, NGO ” Push Africa” Mrs Doris Egberamen said the organization is out to eradicate poverty.

She explained that the initiative is to boost Small and Medium Enterprises and assist the less privileged in rural areas.

Mrs Egberamen said the NGO has put in place measures to ensure the sustainability of the scheme.

The Country Director who noted that the programme would complement other schemes of government stressed the need for the state to support it.

She maintained that the grant which is realised from donations of philanthropists, distributed two million naira to the beneficiaries in the area.

In a remark, the Etsu Nupe and Chairman Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar told the beneficiaries to judiciously use the funds.

He expressed hope that the initiative would fight poverty and boost the income of the beneficiaries.

The beneficiaries commended the NGO describing it as a welcome development.
