NEMA Donates Relief Materials To Victims Of 2017 Flood In Kogi State
The National Emergency Management Agency NEMA, has donated relief materials worth millions of naira to victims of two thousand and seventeen flood in kogi state.
Handing over the materials to the state government the director general NEMA, Mr Mustapha Maihaja noted that flood had become a global phenomenon which requires collaborative efforts to mitigate its effects.
Represented by the director, relief and rehabilitation of NEMA, Mr kayode Fagbemi, the director general called for proper town planning and clearing of drainages long before the raining season to reduce to risk of flood.
He stated that the relief materials would be distributed directly to the effected persons by officials of the agency and the team from the state emergency management agency.
In a response, the deputy governor of kogi state, Chief Simon Achuba commended the agency for it’s response to the flood that ravaged many homes last year.
Chief Achuba while soliciting for more assistance from NEMA and spirited individuals assured the agency that the materials would be used judiciously and adequately distributed to the victims.
The materials distributed include food items, non food items, building materials and livelihood restoration tools
