NEITI Seeks Partnership With FRCN On Effective Coverage Of Energy Sector

The Executive Secretary, Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative NEITI, Dr Orji Ogbonnaya Orji, called for the expansion of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN’s energy Desk for more coverage and reportage of energy related activities in the country.

Dr. Orji who made the call when he paid a courtesy visit to Director General of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Dr. Mansur Liman said NEITI, has contributed significantly to the massive reforms in the Oil and Gas industry.

“The media is a major anti-corruption platform that stands for openness, transparency and accountability. So we have an alignment with the FRCN. We want our country to use its resources efficiently and uplift the people and unite our country. “

“FRCN shaped my career & provided the platform for my self- dev in public service. I am a home boy, bred and buttered here. I can proudly say today that it is FRCN that people still connect me to. The FRCN means a lot to me & I am here to pay my respects.

He said the agency through publications of several reports on the activities of the Oil and Gas industry as well as other related issues, gave birth to the Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB, and other related reforms in the sector. READ MORE: ICPC, NEITI To Confront Corruption In Extractive Industries

The Executive Secretary of NEITI, also commended the rebuilding and upgrade of the broadcast infrastructure on-going at the FRCN headquarters in Abuja, that the upgrade of facilities at the corporation would boost the quality of the signals and programmes, and make the FRCN competitive.

Responding, the DG FRCN Dr. Mansur Liman tasked NEITI to continue to check the tax regime of companies operating in the country

According to Dr Liman “The corporation will continue to educate the public on government’s policies and programmes through objective reportage.

The FRCN boss also commended NEITI for its tremendous progress in promoting transparency and good governance in the country.
