NBA, CSO’s, Others Stage Protest Over Onnoghen’s Suspension

Members of the Nigeria Bar Association, Civil Society Organisation of Nigeria and the opposition parties are protesting over the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Walter Onnoghen.

The protest is taking off from the NBA secretariat in Abuja.

None of the leaders of the body is available to comment on the ongoing protest.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday suspended Justice Walter Onnoghen and appointed Justice Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed as the acting CJN.

The protest came after President Muhammadu Buhari suspended the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen.

Following the suspension, Justice Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed has been appointed as the acting CJN.

According to the president, the development is based on the request of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, pending the completion of Onnoghen’s trial.

Justice Tanko Mohammed who hails from Bauchi State is the most senior justice of the Supreme Court.
