Nasarawa State Govt Opens Door For Partnership To Empower Youths
Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura of Nasarawa State says his administration is open for collaboration with relevant stakeholders and employers of labour towards creating more opportunities for empowerment.
Governor Almakura was speaking at the closing of a three month training for three hundred youths in various skills in Nasarawa State by the Industrial Training Fund, ITF.
Governor Tanko Almakura represented by the Deputy, Mr Silas Agara commended the Industrial Training Fund for the initiative, describing it as a boost towards reducing youth restiveness.
Director General, Industrial Training Fund Sir Joseph Ari represented by Director Research and Curriculum Development Mr Zachariah Piwuna said skills acquisition remains the most viable option towards wealth creation.
Some of the beneficiaries Zainab Abdullahi and John Ayah expressed delight and called for sustainability of the scheme to engage more youths to be self reliant.
The youths were engaged for three months in skills acquisition training under the Industrial Skills Development Programme, a scheme initiated by the ITF aimed at youth empowerment.
Start up packs of tools were presented to all the trainees to set up their own trades such as welding, plumbing, tailoring among others.
