Nasarawa: Academic Staff Union Wants Govt To Save College Of Agriculture fro Total Collaspe

National body of Academic Staff Union of Colleges of Agriculture in Nigeria has called on Nasarawa state government to provide Special Intervention Grants to the state owned College of Agriculture, Lafia to save the institution from total collapse.

National President of the union, Doctor Peter Aboki made the call at a news briefing in Lafia.

Doctor Aboki stated that since the withdrawal of Tetfund Intervention to colleges of Agriculture by the Federal Government, monotechnic institutions in the country have been facing infrastructural deficits and lack of modern equipment.

He noted that one of the major objectives of establishing the college is to promote farming and agricultural productivity.

Doctor Aboki stressing the need for allocation of adequate funds to achieve the vision of its founding fathers.

He enumerated some of the challenges facing the colleges to include non implementation of promotion of staff, inadequate manpower, non payment of pension and gratuity, withdrawal of allowances of staff among others.
