Mother Dies While Live Streaming On Facebook

3 January 2017 Blog

An Arkansas mother of two suffered heart problems while live streaming on Facebook and ultimately died.

Keiana Herndon, 26, was in the middle of telling her roughly 3,400 Facebook friends that she intended to go back to school when she started to feel ill.

While holding her one-year-old son named Riley, Herndon began rubbing her face and shaking her head, according to local NBC news affiliate KATV.

“She go to whipping (sic) her face and shaking her head, and I was thinking, what’s wrong with Kei?” Barbara Johnson, Herndon’s aunt, told KATV. “We call her Kei. She then, she fell back and then Riley picked the phone up and started talking and playing and then I hear (gasping) then I heard one more … I didn’t hear nothing else.”

The live-stream video, which has since been removed, reportedly ended with Herndon’s friend discovering she passed out. She then called 9-1-1 for help.

“Never knew that was going to be the last breath she would take, on social media live,” Johnson lamented.

While some of the family chose not to ask for donations, a crowdsourcing page has been set up, presumably to help support Herndon’s two young children.

“I put on some house shoes and a pair of pants and got into the car and drove to the hospital. The nurse came in and told me that my baby was gone,” said Mary Morgan, Herndon’s mother, according to KATV.

“She had thyroid problems. The thyroid messes with everything and it triggered her heart. It’s a tragedy, I know that much, and I know one thing, I would love to have my baby back with me.”
