Minimum wage: President Buhari Urged To Transmit Tripartite Agreement To NASS

President Muhammadu Buhari has been urged to transmit the Tripartite Agreement on the National Minimum Wage to the National Assembly for Legislation to avert the looming industrial action threatened by organized labour.

This resolution is sequel to a motion on matter of urgent public importance on a call for Legislative Intervention to maintain Industrial peace in the country at plenary.

Leading the debate the sponsor of the motion, Mr.Sani Zorro from jigawa state, noted that the threatened strike by the organized Labour had the Potentials of paralyzing the Nation’s socio-economic and political activities.

Consequent upon his submission, the House further enjoined the Federal Government to display good faith in implementing the age-old agreement reached with ASUU to check incessant strikes which had become the only tool of compelling government to the negotiation table.

The House further resolved on the motion to set up a joint Ad-hoc Committee with the Senate to investigate the immediate and remote causes of Workers’ action in the National Assembly and to make recommendations to the two chambers for appropriate action.
