Military Rehabilitates Over Six Hundred Repentant Insurgents

Additional six hundred and two repentant Boko Haram members have completed de-radicalization, rehabilitation and re-integration programme and sworn an oath of allegiance to the federal government to be law abiding.

The Coordinator Defence Media Operations Defence Headquarters, Major General John Enenche made this known in Abuja at the weekly media briefing on Operations of the military across the country.

General Enenche explained that troops of operation Lafiya Dole in the North East recorded tremendous success within the week with the elimination of several terrorists, destruction of their structures and equipment as well as recovery of arms and ammunition.

He said Operation Safe Corridor had completed the process of making the Repentant insurgents better members of the society

In the North West region, the Coordinator hinted that Operation Sahel Sanity rescued five kidnapped victims, arrested five armed militia and a gun fabricator while Operation Hadarin Daji recovered killed scores of bandits in Zamfara state.

According to General Enenche troops of operation Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke in the North Central as part of Civil-Military affairs provided boreholes in a Fulani community in Miyangu in Plateau state and Guma as well as a school in Pashu community of Plateau state.

The troops also killed several armed bandits, recovered arms and ammunition during clearance Operation in the two states.

In the South South zone, General Enenche said troops of 3 battalion under Operation Delta Safe arrested seven suspected sea pirates in Warri, recovered two double barrel guns,one pump action gun, twelve live cartridges and six handsets.

Similarly, Nigeria Navy Jubilee destroyed sea robbers camp with 80,000 litres of refined Automatic Gas Oil AGO (Diesel) as troops of 146 Forward Operating base Bonny raided Militants hideouts in Bonny and recovered Pistol loaded with 9MM ammunition, 17 phones and speed boat mounted with a 75HP engine.

Likewise, troops of Operations Calm Waters and Swift Response continued to record some milestones as a joint efforts with the Nigerian Customs Service Strike Force led to the Seizure of 112 of 50kg bags of rice.
