Military Deploys Air Assets To North West/Central To Tackle Banditry

The Military High Command says it has deployed Air Assets to some states as part of efforts to tackle armed banditry and other criminal activities in the country.

The Coordinator Defence Media Operations, Defence Headquarters, Major General John Enenche made this known during a media briefing in Abuja.

General Enenche explained that the military high command has assured of proactive measures to address the growing worries in some quarters especially the North West and North Central Part of the country that armed banditry could spread to more states.

The Coordinator who said there is synergy in all the ongoing Operations to tackle interstate movement of bandits stated that Air assets had been deployed to cover Kaduna, Niger, Nasarawa and Kogi states.

General Enenche also pointed out that between the 6th and 28th of May this year, troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE killed 188 Boko Haram and Islamic state of West Africa Province,ISWAP Terrorists, rescued 236 civilians in the North East while 392 armed bandits were killed in North West by Operation HADARIN DAJI.

He added that Operation WHIRL PUNCH in the North Central recorded successes with the killing of 20 armed bandits and destruction of their camps and logistics facilities.

General Enenche also said that the Maritime Operations of the Nigerian Navy Ship Pathfinder patrol team, the Nigerian Navy Ship Delta and Forward Operating Base IBAKA discovered some illegal refineries and products as well as items used for the illegal activities.

The military high command gave assurance of Continuous offensive against terrorists and Armed bandits in the country
