It is the morning after MET Gala 2017 and as usual, there are some moments that will remain ever green in the minds of viewers, fans and followers.
The annual fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, considered the Oscars of the fashion world, brought together the biggest names in fashion and entertainment.
This year’s Met Gala was hosted by Wintour, Perry, Pharrell Williams, Tom Brady and his Brazilian supermodel wife, Gisele Bündchen.
Japanese designer Kawakubo, 74, who founded Comme des Garçons in 1969, served as honorary chair of the A-list event.
FROM the infamous elevator brawl between Jay Z, Beyonce and her sister Solange, to Lena Dunham’s controversial comments about Odell Beckham Jnr, the Met Gala has as much drama behind the scenes as it does on the red carpet.
Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston met at last year’s ball, prompting their short-lived Hiddleswift romance.
How much does the gala cost?
Tickets this year are $30,000 apiece, and tables are about $275,000. The party and exhibition are sponsored, so all of the money from ticket sales goes to the Costume Institute. Last year, approximately $13.5 million was raised. In past years, there was one main corporate underwriter per show, alongside Ms. Wintour’s employer, Condé Nast. Last year it was Apple, but this year the burden is being divided among Apple, Condé Nast, Farfetch, H & M and Maison Valentino.
How many people attend?
Last year, about 600. This year, a spokeswoman for the museum said it wanted to keep it more “intimate” and “private,” so the number will be slightly lower.
As usual some dressings stood out of the crowd, others stood out of the bodies of the owners and more were outstanding. Decide for yourselves with these pictures below:
