Lockdown: Business hours Extended From 8am – 3pm In FCT

The FCT Administration has directed Abuja Market Management Limited to collaborate with marketers to decentralise the major markets by setting up neighborhood selling points Across the territory.

The Managing Director, Abuja Market Management Limited, Mr Abubakar Faruk told journalists that the FCT minister, Malam Muhammad Bello, also directed that business hours be extended from 8am to 3pm as against the initial order of 10am to 2pm.

Mr Faruk explained that the modalities for the decentralization of the market would be achieved by using government facilities such as gardens, schools around the neighborhood as selling points towards minimising crowd in major markets.

According to Mr Faruk, the FCT Administration plan to make provision for about 40 units for a start in various strategic districts in the FCC.

Mr Faruk also encouraged all users of the markets to wear their face mask and always observe physical distancing to prevent community spread of the virus.

The Abuja Market Boss who further appealed to residents to support Government efforts in the fight against COVID 19 by patronizing neighborhood markets, noted that the security agencies have been mandated to clampdown anybody violating these directives.
