Kwara Assembly Passes State Public Procurement Agency Amendment Bill
Kwara State Public Procurement Agency Amendment bill has been passed into law by the State House of Assembly.
The bill was passed into law today after considering the report of Ad-hoc Committee chaired by the Deputy Speaker, Raphael Adetiba and laid before the House.
One of the amended parts of the law is that the governor should seek consent of the house before removal of the General Manager if there is the need to do so.
Speaker, Engineer Yakubu Danlad-Salihu directed the Clerk of the House, Hajia Halima Kperogi to prepare a clean copy of bill for Governor’s assent.
In another development, the House of Assembly has urged the State Government to direct Ministry of Environment to collaborate with Ministry of Works, Transport and Housing to ensure maintenance of drainages to mitigate flood disaster in the state.
The was sequel to Motion on Notice titled “Need to Construct and Reconstruct Drainages on the roads in the State” sponsored by the member representing Oke-Ogun Constituency, Mr Olayiwola Ojo.
Other Lawmakers in their contribution attributed incessant flood incident to ineffective drainage system particularly during rainy season.
Reading the resolutions of the House, Speaker, Engineer Yakubu Danlad-Salihu implored the state government to intensify Public Enlightenment Campaign on the danger inherent in poor drainages usage particularly indiscriminate dumping of refuse into drainages.
The people of Kwara State were urged to take ownership of government projects by avoiding acts capable of causing drainages blockage and report errant members to appropriate authorities.
