Kogi State ASUSS Seeks Accelerated Recruitment Of 3,000 Secondary School Teachers
Kogi State Government has be urged to give accelerated implementation to the recruitment of three thousand, teachers for secondary Schools across the State.
State Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, ASUSS, Comrade Ranti Ojo make the call at this year celebration of World Teachers Day in Lokoja.
Comrade Ojo said the call became necessary in view of shortage of teachers through massive compulsory retirement inflicted on the sector by the government.
He also call for urgent steps to be taken by government in some Local government areas where flood has submerged schools and make teaching and learning impossible.
In a paper presentation at the occasion, the lead presenter, Joshua Olorunfemi who spoke on “The twenty one irrefutable laws of leadership” charged the State Executive Council ,SEC, of the Union to remain resolute in their bid to provide leadership for the members.
Speaking at the occasion, the State Commissioner for Education, Wemi Jones said the State government is addressing challenges in the educational sector headlong by taking some proactive measures to revive the sector.
According to him, while attention is being given to recruitment of teachers, the issue of their welfare, capacity building and infrastructures are being addressed.
He appealed to the teachers to continue to give their best in instilling quality teaching and learning to the students towards making the nation great.
