Kogi Govt To Prosecute Officer Allegedly Involved In Fraudulent Activity In State Polytechnic

The Kogi state government is to prosecute five principal officers in the Bursary Department of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja for alleged fraudulent diversion of about one hundred and fifty-seven million naira state funds.
Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello gave the directive after the state executive council considered a report on the alleged misconduct of the five officers.
Briefing newsmen after the state executive council meeting at the government house Lokoja, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Petra Akinti Onyegbule said the reported frauds were discovered to have been committed by the officers between August 2014 and May 2017
She explained that the measure was aimed at ensuring the refund of the monies and as well serve as deterrent to other civil servants.
According to her, Governor Bello reiterated his administration’s committment to recover looted funds for the development of the state.
The five officers have since been suspended by the governing council of the Kogi state polytechnic, Lokoja.
