Kogi state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello says his administration had put in place several empowerment programmes to engage women and youths towards improving their socio- economic wellbeing.
Governor Bello made this known in Okene at a reception organized to commemorate the Ebira cultural festival popularly called Ekwechi.
He said the programmes, in the health, education and agriculture sector would enable them showcase their potentials.
Alhaji Bello who also called on youths in the state to take active part in politics explained that one major way of participating in governance was for the youths to get registered as voters and as members of political parties so as to decide who represents them.
Correspondent Ohikwo Mohammed reports that the governor reminded the youths of the need to obtain their permanent voter cards as the race for 2019 had already begun.
Governor Bello said the All Progressives Congress, APC led government had made tremendous achievements in the area of youth empowerment through its social investment programmes and advocated support for President Muhammadu Buhari.
